Are you new to our district?  Welcome!

Enrollment forms are available for pick-up in the office or on the web site; click on the "Enrollment Forms" link on the left.


Discovery Elementary Student Entry Times

Students eating breakfast at school may enter at 8:05 a.m.

All other students may enter at 8:10 a.m.

School starts at 8:20 a.m.

Entry doors will be locked at 8:30 a.m.

Buzz Ticket News

January was a quick, short month with snow days and holidays, school was in session only 18 days.  Still, Discovery children earned 923 Buzz Tickets for being kind, safe, cooperative and respectful! For more information on positive behavior supports, you can visit the Discovery Elementary School web page; www.gowcs.net.  On the left hand side you'll find the "PBIS and Bullying Prevention Program."  If you have any questions, please feel free to call Katie Gerard, our Student Services Coordinator at 655-2855, ext. 4650.  Thank you for all you do to support your children at school!

Bus Drivers Needed!

Williamston Community Schools Transportation Department is looking for people interested in becoming a bus driver.  Please call Pam VanSickler, Transportation Supervisor, at 655-1011.



Noon Supervisors Needed!!!

We are in need of dedicated people to help keep our students safe during their lunch hour.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to get involved with their child's school, and get paid!  Of course you don't have to be a parent to apply.

Hours are 10:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. daily (13.75 hours per week).

We are also in need of substitute noon supervisors, hours vary as needed.

Discovery Elementary School Improvement Goals 2016-2017

Students will improve their reading fluency with an increased building focus on reading connected text and "Good Fit Groupings".

Students will improve their mathematics proficiency with an increased building focus on direct instruction and increased opportunities to apply skills.

Students will improve written language skills with an increased building focus on opportunities to write narrative, non-fiction and opinion pieces.

Students will improve learning engagement and social skills with an increased building focus on Kind, Safe, Cooperative and Respectful interactions. 

Students will improve their health and wellness skills with an increased building focus on instruction, activities and staff reinforcement.
